Smallbrook Ringway to Broad Street and Civic Centre – 1959-1966

A walk from Smallbrook Ringway (formerly Smallbrook Street) along Suffolk Street to Broad Street and the Civic Centre. Subjects include: Smallbrook Ringway, Holloway Circus (mosaic), Suffolk Street, Station Street, Beak Street, John Bright Street, Swallow Street, Trafalgar House, Easy Row, Edmund Street, Great Charles Street, Hall of Memory, Municipal Bank, B'ham Register Office, Holliday Street. This selection consists of 27 images scanned from original 35 mm transparencies, colour prints and monochrome prints, plus one Google StreetView image.

The maps below, published in 1949 and 1972, show the approximate area covered by the survey and identify many of the relevant street names. The later map shows the new roadways created as part Inner Ringroad development in the early 1960s.
