Victoria Square, New St and the Station – 1963-1966

A walk from Victoria Square, down New Street, exploring the streets around New Street Station. Subjects include: Victoria Square, Paradise Street, Ratcliffe Place, Hill Street (Upper), New Street, Christ Church Passage, Ethel Street, Stephenson Street, Navigation Street, Lower Temple Street, Stephenson Place, Worcester Street, Hinkley Street, St Jude's Passage, Hill Street (Lower), Severn Street, Queen's Drive, New Street Station, Pinfold Street. This selection consists of 30 images scanned from original 35 mm transparencies and monochrome prints.

The maps below, published in 1949 and 1972, show the approximate area covered by the survey and identify many of the relevant street names. The later map shows the new roadways created as part Inner Ringroad development in the early 1960s.
