Ribérac Market - 1
Friday, 10th August 2001
The market town of Ribérac (population 5000) is in the valley of the river Dronne in the Dordogne region. My friends and I had heard good reports about Ribérac's Friday morning market, and as it was only 50 km from our base at Cercoux, we agreed that a visit was essential. The weather was ideal: hot and sunny, but with a cooling breeze.
Below: Market stalls and bargain hunters leave little room for traffic in Ribérac's main street.
Above and below: Crowds wandering around the market stalls in the town square.

Above and below: Colourful fruit and vegetable stalls.
Above: Mouth-watering crusty bead - but stocks are already running low!
Music from a barrel organ and pan pipes adds to the bustle of the busy market.
