The Mumbles
Swansea, Glamorgan
Photography by John Ball - 11.00am, 17 February 1998 (with Agfa ePhoto-307 digtal camera)
A morning walk along the promenade at the Mumbles.
Above: Mumbles Head is at the western end of Swansea Bay.
Today the sea was very calm.
Above: Today's lovely spring-like weather tempts everyone to stroll along the prom.

Above left: In-line roller skating. Swansea is in the background.
Above right: Mumbles pier and lifeboat station can just be seen on the horizon.
Above: A family picnic on the beach — even in mid February!
The broad sweep of Swansea Bay is in the background.

Above: Skating with big sister (left) and cycling with Dad (right).
Above: The entrance to the Victorian Mumbles Pier.

Above: Such piers enabled Victorians to imagine they were on a boat deck far out at sea. A pier also makes an excellent fishing platform (right).
Above: Mumbles lifeboat station. Sea mist is now almost obscuring the distant coastline.
