Laugharne Castle and Church
Carmarthenshire
Photography by John Ball - 19 February 1998 (with Agfa ePhoto307 digital camera)
Apart from its associations with the poet Dylan Thomas, Laugharne
(pronounced "Larn") is known for the huge keep of its castle, built
by the Welsh prince Rhys ap Gruffydd.

Above: Most of the ruined castle dates from Tudor times, when the stronghold was converted to a mansion by Sir John Perrott, said to be an illegitimate son of King Henry VIII.
