St Cadfarch's Church

St Cadfarch's Church
Penegoes
Montgomeryshire

Photography by John Ball - 1.15pm 12th May 1998
(with Agfa ePhoto307 digital camera)

The parish church of St Cadfarch, in the village of Penegoes, is hidden from the main A489 trunk road connecting Newtown to Machynlleth. The church and its graveyard are set in the beautiful Dovey Valley (Cwm Dyfi).
Although many graves date back to the 18th century, they are remarkably well preserved.

Plaque

Above: A plaque commemorating the birth in 1713 of the artist Richard Wilson.

Noted for his landscapes, Richard Wilson was one of the original members of the Royal Academy, and in 1776 became its librarian. He died in 1782.
