Llandyfriog, Cardiganshire
Photography by John Ball - 24 July 1998 (with an Agfa ePhoto307 digital camera)
Llandyfriog is a quiet village and parish on the northern banks of the River Teifi, a few miles east of Newcastle Emlyn.
Above: Llandyfriog parish church, dedicated to St Tyfriog, viewed through the lych-gate at the entrance to the churchyard.
(A lych-gate is a roofed gateway to a churchyard, originally used prior to a burial for sheltering the coffin until the arrival of the clergyman)
Above: St Tyfriog's is built on level ground on the valley floor, below the village.
Left: The church nave.
Above: Most of the houses in Llandyfriog are built on the northern side of the
main valley road. Note the old red telephone box and letter box.
Above: Some of the cottages stand several feet above the present level of the roadway.
