Cottages at Merthyr Mawr
Glamorgan

Photography by John Ball - 3.00pm, 19th March 1999
(with Agfa ePhoto307 digital camera)

Picturesque old cottages in the village of Merthyr Mawr in the Vale of Glamorgan. Many of the cottages have thatched roofs. On this pleasant spring afternoon, the village seemed totally deserted.

Merthyr Mawr

It is said that the old lady who once lived in the cottage (above) used to gain access to her bedroom by climbing a set of stairs or steps on the outside of the cottage. Apparently, she always resisted pressure from friends and family to have a staircase installed inside the cottage.
(Many thanks to Pat Powell of the Vale of Glamorgan for providing this anecdote)
