Personal note from John Ball

Since moving to Wales forty-two years ago, I have taken literally tens of thousands of photographs of urban and rural subjects using both digital and film cameras. Many of these photographs have been featured on my 'Images of Wales' webpages, but many have not. Additionally, various individuals have kindly sent me their own photographs of Welsh churches and chapels so I now have high quality photos of over 530 Welsh churches and chapels, located mainly in southeast, southwest, and central Wales. My collection represents only a small fraction of the total number of places of worship in these areas, but the collection is still expanding.

I am always happy to receive offers of good quality digital images from other photographers.

Through the Welsh Churches and Chapels Collection, I have made all these photographs available on the Web. Each place of worship in the online collection has its own dedicated individual webpage(s) on which are displayed one or more photographs of the subject, together with relevant background and historical information, and/or links to such information. I began creating the individual webpages in January 2007 and completed the main phase of the project in March 2016.

To explore the collection, first click on the BROWSE button (above and below). Then access the collection via the index, sorted alphabetically by location. The index provides direct links to each of the individual webpages and photographs.

Present status: 535 webpages completed.
(I'm now adding further subjects as and when I acquire them)

Most recent additions/updates:
St Michael's Church, Llanfihangel Talyllyn (BRE) [added 15 Jan 2020]
St Mary's Church, Llanywern (BRE) [added 24 Nov 2019]
