The HARRIS Family
of Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan

Photographs and family details provided by R. Rhys Harris of Alabama, USA

Rhys says, "I inherited an old photograph album, and have been trying to identify the people featured in the photographs. I am assuming they are relatives of Rees Charles HARRIS (born May 1846 in Merthyr Tydfil) and Sarah Elizabeth DAVIES (born Feb 9, 1846 in Goetre Fawr, Monmouthshire). They married at the Ebenezer Chapel, Merthyr Tydfil in January 1866, and emigrated to the USA two or three years later."

Rhys says his hope is that someone might recognize the people in the photos.

The backs of the photographs are labelled: Art Studio of Photography, E. Pulman, portrait painter and landscape artist, 11 High Street, Merthyr.
Contemporary trades directories show that E. Pulman was running a photography business in Merthyr Tydfil from at least as early as 1883, but may not have moved to the High Street address until the late 1880s.
