Edmund St, Bath St, Great Charles St, Congreve St – 1963-1964

An exploration of the area of the City Centre bounded by Edmund Street and Great Charles Street, with a side trip to include the area around Bath Street as far as the former College of Advanced Technology. Subjects include: Chamberlain Square, Congreve Street, Edmund Street, Barwick Street, St Mary's Row, St Chad's Cathedral, Bath Street, Price Street, Vesey Street, Lench Street, Bailey Street, Brick Kiln Street, College of Advanced Technology, New Market Street, Cornwall Street, Margaret Street, Great Charles Street. This selection consists of 18 images scanned from original 35 mm colour and monochrome transparencies.

The maps below, published in 1949 and 1972, show the approximate area covered by the survey and identify many of the relevant street names. The later map shows the new roadways created as part Inner Ringroad development in the early 1960s.
