Images of Wales
Welsh Churches and Chapels Collection
Photographs of and background information on over 530 churches and chapels in Wales.
Personal note from John Ball
Since moving to Wales fifty years ago, I have taken literally tens of thousands of photographs of urban and rural subjects using both digital and film cameras. Over the years, I had featured a selection of these photographs on my 'Images of Wales' webpages. Additionally, various individuals had kindly sent me their own photographs of Welsh churches and chapels so I accumulated high quality photos of 535 Welsh churches and chapels, located mainly in southeast, southwest, and central Wales. The collection represented only a small fraction of the total number of places of worship in these areas.
Through the Welsh Churches and Chapels Collection, all these photographs are available here, on my website. Each place of worship in the online collection has its own dedicated individual webpage(s) on which are displayed one or more photographs of the subject, together with relevant background and historical information, and/or links to such information. I began creating the individual webpages in January 2007 and completed the project in 2019.
But in 2019, I decided enough was enough, and stopped adding any newly acquired subjects or photographs to the Welsh Churches and Chapels Collection. I wanted to devote my time to other projects.
